gamescom: gamescom continues to grow: exhibition area increases in 2017 to 201,000 square metres

After the exhibition area of gamescom was increased to 193,000 gross square metres, and thus by 18 percent in 2015, the world′s largest event for computer and video games now continues on its growth course: for the first time, gamescom (22 to 26 August) will also make use of hall 1 of the Cologne fair grounds. Overall, gamescom 2017 will cover a gross exhibition space of 201,000 square metres, corresponding to a plus of 4 percent. Hall 1 will be part of the business area and exclusively booked by Electronic Arts.

» "The additional allocation of hall 1, and thus the expansion of the business area, once again underlines the importance of gamescom as the leading European business platform of the gaming industry", says Tim Endres, Director of gamescom. "For us, the demand for larger and additional exhibition spaces in the business area is a clear signal that gamescom is the European must go of the industry.“
As a result of the expansion of the business area by hall 1 and the commensurate move of Electronic Arts from hall 4.1, exhibition space is once again freed up in this area. This means that Koelnmesse can address both the demand for stand expansions of existing business area exhibitors and the needs of new exhibitors. Represented for the first time in the business area will be, among others, the group of the ASOCIACIÓN PERUANA DE DESARROLLADOR (Peru), the BRAZILIAN GAME DEVELOPERS (Brazil) and the group RGDA ROMANIAN GAME (Romania). The freed-up space in hall 4.1 is already rented to 60 percent.

The trade visitor section, the business area, will be open in 2017 in halls 1, 2, 3.2 and 4. The entertainment area ranges through halls 5 to 10.
