The exterior of the Talis combines perfect aerodynamics with generous living quarters. Icon-status van: New California
Volkswagen AG Nutzfahrzeuge, Hall 16 / D 52

The California enjoys icon status among motorhomes. The New California is the completely revamped generation of this bestseller built over 280,000 times. It is based on the long chassis of the ultra-modern Multivan. Volkswagen has re-engineered all aspects of the motorhome – making it roomier, smarter, better thought-out, more versatile and sustainable. And yet – conceptually it follows on from its iconic predecessors and, hence, also seamlessly follows on from one of the really big success stories in automotive history. Volkswagen sticks to the California details such as the pop-up roof and the interior thoroughly researched to the minutest of details. For the first time, all Californias will feature two sliding doors as standard – paving the way for even more versatile uses. Camper van global first: Cascan
Knaus Tabbert AG, Hall 1 / A01

Knaus’ new study Cascan makes more than a statement: the attractive model in the high-end premium segment of luxurious camper vans has no predecessor and does away with many conventions that used to dominate the sector so far. It boasts a deliberately automotive, sporty and dynamic appearance. The 150 hp 4-cylinder Mercedes-Benz Sprinter serves as a base vehicle and to improve its off-road capability off the beaten track, the body of the 4-wheel drive Cascan version was raised by 100 mm. Inside, the furniture “flows elegantly” in the space. Particularly striking here are the kitchen and bathroom fittings in elegant black. The unusual free space is highlighted by distinct lines, with contrasts and tactility of the materials. The Cascan also demonstrates its innovative power in the bathroom. The standard CLEANFLEX toilet is hidden away in a cabinet when not in use while the wash basin requires no space either as it folds up – so virtually nothing stands in the way of sheer showering pleasure in the KNAUS Cascan.
