Automuseum PROTOTYP: RACEBORN - 75 Years of Porsche Motorsport

» Hamburg, June 2026 – The new special exhibition “RACEBORN – 75 Years of Porsche Motorsport”, on display at Automuseum PROTOTYP in Hamburg from July 10 to September 1, 2026, celebrates 75 years of Porsche’s motorsport heritage. Organized in cooperation with the Porsche Museum Stuttgart, the exhibition presents a selection of exceptional racing cars that trace the evolution of Porsche motorsport from its earliest days to the modern hybrid era.
The exhibition brings together rare original vehicles from the Hamburg collection and significant milestones from Porsche’s racing history in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. Highlights include a 1952 Glöckler-Porsche, a precursor to the legendary Porsche 550 Spyder; the 1953 Mathé-Porsche MA-01 “Fetzenflieger”, the first single-seater racing car powered by Porsche technology; and the Porsche 804 Formula One car, with which Porsche achieved its first and only Formula One World Championship Grand Prix victory in 1962.
Also on display is the 1968 Porsche 908 LH Coupé, one of the most influential endurance racing cars of its era, and the 2013 Porsche 911 RSR, a modern GT racing car that continues Porsche’s successful competition heritage. Representing the hybrid era is the Porsche 919 Hybrid "Rollout", the prototype test vehicle used during the development phase of the car that would go on to achieve multiple victories at Le Mans.
Additional exhibits include the Porsche 718/2 F1, the Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 RSR IROC, the first Porsche 962, and a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 997), each representing a significant chapter in Porsche’s motorsport history.
The special exhibition tells stories from 75 years of Porsche Motorsport – from remarkable events and legendary races to extraordinary drivers and groundbreaking technical innovations. It highlights the close relationship between competition and innovation that has defined Porsche from the very beginning.
At Porsche, motorsport has traditionally served as a development laboratory under extreme conditions. Many technical solutions proven on race tracks around the world later found their way into production vehicles. At the same time, the history of Porsche motorsport is also the story of countless customer teams whose achievements have made a major contribution to the brand’s international success over the decades.
With “RACEBORN – 75 Years of Porsche Motorsport”, Automuseum PROTOTYP invites visitors to rediscover key chapters of this remarkable success story through a carefully curated selection of vehicles and the stories behind them.
