gamescom: gamescom award 2019: „And the winners are...!“

» The first winners of the most coveted prizes of the European computer and video games industry have been decided. In the context of gamescom: Opening Night Live, hosted by Geoff Keighley, the gamescom awards were presented in a total of nine genre and five platform categories. More than 1,500 spectators were present live and on location, as well as many more gamescom fans with the live stream on More than 160 submissions were received at the award office, which was again managed by the Stiftung Digitale Spielekultur (Digital Game Culture Foundation) this year.

The winners of the gamescom awards 2019 have been decided: the games module "Dreams" from Sony Interactive Entertainment wins in the categories of Best Sony PlayStation 4 Game and Most Original Game. Another Sony title, "Concrete Genie", was also chosen by the jury as Best Family Game. The remake of "The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening", was distinguished as Best Nintendo Switch Game, and "Gears 5" as the Best Microsoft Xbox One Game.

Codemasters, Koch Media and Ubisoft can also be pleased with further distinctions: Codemasters′ title "Grid" and Koch Media′s "Wasteland 3" were honoured as Best Racing Game or Best Roleplaying Game, Ubisoft′s "Roller Champions" is the Best Sports Game and "Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint" the Best PC Game.

All winning titles in the genre and platform category groups are eligible for the top award of Best of Gamescom, presented by the gamescom award jury. The categories of Best Hardware / Technology, Best Multiplayer Game, Best Ongoing Game and Best VR / AR Game are evaluated by the international jury of experts during gamescom and presented on the gamescom Saturday as of 3:30 p.m. in the IGN@gamescom now studio. The winners in the other jury categories, such as Best Games Company, Best of CAMPUS and the gamescom Indie Award, as well as various fan categories, including the gamescom "Most Wanted" Consumer Award and Best Streamer/Let’s Player awards will then also be announced.
