Dresden & Leipzig Trip 2025 - 20 September 2025
From September 20 to October 1, 2025, we embarked on our journey to Dresden and Leipzig – a time full of historical impressions, cultural highlights, and delightful early-autumn charm.
We arrived on September 20, welcomed by brilliant sunshine. After settling in, we spent the afternoon exploring the city center. The warm weather and clear light created the perfect setting for our first walk through Dresden.
Our stroll first led us to the Royal Palace (Residenzschloss), an impressive structure whose rich history and magnificent architecture immediately caught our eye. Just a few steps away, we reached the famous Zwinger, whose baroque façades and spacious courtyards looked especially beautiful bathed in the afternoon light.
We continued on to the Semper Opera House (Semperoper), one of the most renowned opera houses in the world. Its elegant appearance draws visitors from across the globe—and we, too, were captivated by its charm. Not far from there, we admired the Procession of Princes (Fürstenzug), the world’s largest porcelain mural, which presents the history of Saxony’s ruling dynasty in impressive detail.
And another must-see was the Frauenkirche, which could be admired in all its splendour in beautiful weather.
Naturally, our walk also turned into a mini photo tour. We took numerous pictures capturing the sunny afternoon, the splendid buildings, and the atmosphere of Dresden’s Old Town. Some of these impressions are shared below.
Our first day in Dresden was a wonderful start to an eventful trip that would offer us many more highlights in the days to come.
