Dresden & Leipzig Trip 2025 – 24 September 2025
On September 24, 2025, our day began with a ride on the S-Bahn from Dresden-Neustadt to Radebeul, where we transferred to the historic Lößnitzgrundbahn. We traveled leisurely through the picturesque countryside aboard a steam locomotive to Moritzburg, where we visited the famous Moritzburg Castle. Unfortunately, the Aschenbrödel exhibition had not yet opened, so we focused on exploring the expansive castle park and admiring the impressive exterior – still a beautiful stroll in a historic setting.
For the return journey, we traveled again under steam on the Lößnitzgrundbahn back to Radebeul. There, we visited the Karl May Museum, which offers fascinating insights into the life and work of the world-famous writer. The collection of original artifacts and personal memorabilia made the visit particularly engaging.
Back in Dresden, we took the S-Bahn to the main train station to search for the Dresden dwarfs. These small figures symbolize Dresden’s partnership with Wroc?aw, the city of dwarfs. It was great fun to spot the hidden dwarf sculptures throughout the city – some were cleverly tucked away behind construction sites.
All in all, the day turned out to be a wonderful mix of historic steam train rides, cultural exploration, and a little treasure hunt through Dresden – varied, exciting, and entertaining all at once.
